Facebook
So,
being in lecture halls that have wireless internet means that I have
been spending an exorbitant amount of time on Facebook. This
disgusting habit has also carried over to my studying time however,
meaning that for every 2 paragraph of biochem, I get through about 3
facebook profiles. However, tonight, there was a clear cut
instance of Facebook actually saving me time! I had to get in
contact with a colleague in my group, but I didn't have his contact
info, nor did I wish to go through the clickfest that is of the NYU
directory to get it... so I looked... on facebook! Clicked on his
SN link, and within seconds, I was in contact! I estimate
facebook saved me at least 2 minutes in readily producing his contact
information.... so now all I need is to have 1275876 more such
instances and my time wasted/saved ratio will actually balance out.
The thing with facebook is the ridiculously large number of friends you
have on it. I think there is a ratio of 5:1 for facebook vs. real
life close friends. Oh btw, this ratio jumps to 200:1 if you have
over 200 fb friends listed from your school.
Oh yeah, here I am: http://ucla.facebook.com/profile.php?id=2502113
(oh in case it doesn't work, search "Jerry Yu", I'm the kid that looks
like he's in a musical)
