Lesson of the Day

So I had this email exchange with the professor that teaches the very first class of NYU D school, some mandatory course on "technology in healthcare", which suspiciously smelled as useful as those "Powerpoint for Success" or "Your Sexual Health" seminars we had to sit through back in college.  As I had a function to attend over Labor Day weekend that would be greatly enhanced by me leaving early and heavens forbid, miss the paramount information that would be disseminated in the last two days, I decided to email her and request a leave of absence.

"Hey Dr. -, I'm an incoming freshman and I was wondering if I could miss the last two days of your technology class.  I just want to make sure in advance so I know whether to buy tickets or not."

"No you may not.  The class is not only important, but is a graduation requirement, if you fail it you will be forced to attend mediation.  Plus, it will teach you how to best utilize your laptop and palm and other instruments throughout the next 4 years and more." 

"Well, this function's really important to me and my family, so... I guess I'm willing to fail it and go through remediation with next year's batch of incoming freshman."

"Is this the approach that you want to take with your education?  It's about you learning how to best apply technology in the healthcare profession!"

"Yeah but I play video games though."

"Huh?"

"Well, if I can figure out that when playing defense on Madden 2005, if you just use the play "OLB Blitz" under 3-4 formation, press L1 + Up Arrow to spread your down linemen, press L2 + Left Arrow to shift your linebackers to the left, and manually move your Strong-side MLB so that he is outside of your SS-OLB, you can then proceed to sack the quarterback guaranteed on every passing play due to a combination of AI glitch and clipping error; I'm pretty confident that I can figure out how to say, use my laptop."

And thus concluded our brief exchange of emails.  Now, what is the lesson of the day here? is it "My balls are huge" ?? Close, but no, rather it is ALWAYS ALWAYS make initial contact using an anonymous email address.
