Which one are you?
It
seems that a lot of people I know have some kind of online public
journal. Here are the 5 major ones that people seem to use and
the shared characteristics of those that use them:
Xanga
- You're from the west
coast, probably Orange County.
- You have, or still are,
using aLteRnAtE caps in your screenname/username.
- You join other Xanga
Rings of people who share some artificial similarity.... like penchant
for using alternate caps.
- You get more excited
than someone older than 12 should when your posts receive "e-props"...
- You update on things
that have occured in your day.... no matter how pedestrian.
- Sample: "I brushed my teeth and noticed that I
really need to change my bristles! LOL! Luv you !~~"
Livejournal
- You think you're artsy, or you're a theater major.
- You feel the need to inform other people what your "mood" is and
what you're "listening to".
- You update on how something made you feel.
- You are touchy feely.
- Sample post: "The sun
shined through this tree in my courtyard and formed this perfect circle
of light on
the
ground... it made me want to cry for some reason...."
Blogspot
- You're an adult, and let's admit it, too old to keep a
journal..... of any kind.
- You're in the military.
Photobucket/Webshots
- You're goddamn lazy! You don't even bother writing
anything! Hey let me just plug my digital camera in and
click upload all.
- 90% of the pictures posted? Same contrived smiling poses at
some bar/club/party.
- No one thinks your sexy school-girl costume was original.
Hosted webspace
- Like this one that you are
reading. So you are cool.
- You retain full control over
the design and content, so you are cool.
- You pay hosting fees....
every year.... just to keep an online journal. You're stupid.
- Fuck!
